Checking the forecast

Still in coma for the jet-lag I check the weekend forecast and I'm not sure if to be happy or worried.
After more than a month of inactivity I would have enjoyed small, lazy waves, but it seems like something kind of bigger is coming this way. The angle of impact will be the main factor.

Dipendera' tutto dall'angolazione reale.
Dovrei andare a nuotare ma sono cotto..

Surfin Sardinia

I've always thought about surfing in Sardinia, my home-land.
Always wondered how it would be like.

After two weeks of completely flat conditions, and a week of strong wind, finally the right time came. And thanks to my old friend Vincenzo Ganadu, who gave me a surfboard and introduced me to the area, I finally got my chance.

How is it?
Well, I can only speak about the small day I've found yesterday.
The waves were familiar. They were the same waves I played with when I was a kid. They break very soon and then roll without fury to the the beach. They pretend to be big and tall, but they never betray you or give you surprises. They are simply docile.

I heard stories about epic spots and conditions, and I believe them. Pictures and videos are all over the internet. I understand for the locals those special, rare, cold,  winter days, are things out of fairy tales. But I don't crave for them. Maybe one day I'll see those conditions as well. Meanwhile I'm satisfied. And I'm already thinking about my warm, powerful Queensland waves.

Yesterday the surfboard felt very different. It was a bit shorter than mine, fatter, narrower, with round rails and with no enough wax! Also it was a single fin that I never use and had a weird weight distribution that required being way on the back for the pop up. My feet were sliding and my hands lost grip all the times.
Nevertheless, thanks to the complete absence of competition in the line-up, I had plenty of waves. Most were disappointing. Some, both left and right, gave me a small wall to play with. Those were the moments when I really missed my surfboards. I wanted to do stuff, do do more, but it wasn't possible.

The spot was small and there were enough people to make it  crowded. But the people around me were shy tourists (maybe fearful?), funny kids, and adult locals who mysteriously were on shortboards.

I don't understand the italian love for shortboards. It could be a matter of fashion, shortsightedness or ignorance, I simply don't know. But thanks to that, I had to let waves go or I would have been on every one. Strange thing. But I also have to say it was very enjoyable to feel like everyone was having fun and being relaxed.

I made good memories.

Driving at dawn. This curse follows me!

One of the 2 spots working. Getting smaller and smaller as the morning progressed.
By midday the wind was back.

Such a beautiful place!

Attorno a me c'erano timidi turisti, semi debuttanti e rispettosi (intimoriti?).

Waiting

Waiting to be able to surf in my own country/island.
Of course summer is the worst season, but I'm still hoping. Also because I really need a session in the water now. I can't believe my eyes.

In attesa che accada il miracolo.
Difficile in estate, lo so.

Test

I keep getting a lot of visits from east Europe, but I think that somehow those visits are fake. Also because they all go to a single post that has nothing relevant, a part from the sentence:
Life is short, go surf.
So, here we go: Life is short, go surf.
Let's see if this page gets automated contacts as well.
