Visiting the good old Europe.
In the last five to ten years Sardinia has been recognised as probably the best place for surfing in the Mediterranean Sea.
It just happens that Sardinia is my born place!
So I went to the west coast to visit the Isbenas Surf Club. That day there was the last pulse of a teeny-tiny swell and the guys invited me to have a go with an old longboard.
They could surf those ripples with great agility and skills. For me it was just too small and short to be able to do something more than just pop up.

Believe me when I tell you that in the right day the waves are good. Obviously you have to find whre to go..
Now it seems the right day is coming, but I have a flight to catch soon.
But it's alright. The long points of SE QLD are calling me and I feel very luky to live in Brisbane.
Hats off for the Sardinian crew. They really work and wait hard for a good wave.

Non ho potuto fare a meno di passare a visitare l' Isbenas Surf Club non troppo distante dai luoghi della mia infanzia, in Sardegna.
Il giorno c'era il rimasuglio di onde piu' o meno surfabili e mi sono unito ai ragazzi del club per un tentativo.
Loro, bravissimi, riuscivano a ricavare surfate anche su onde minuscole, che vedevano arrivare con l'occhio allenato dei locals. Per me erano talmente piccole e brevi che avevo giusto il tempo di alzarmi ed era gia' tutto finito.

La Sardegna e' diventata sempre piu' una delle mete migliori per il surf nel Mediterraneo. Ci sono onde di tutto rispetto ma necessitano le condizioni giuste. E' probabile che in due o tre giorni queste condizioni ci siano, grazie al vento, almeno per una surfata decente, ma io devo salire su un aereo.
Peccato.
Ma i luoghi intorno a Brisbane mi chiamano e sono contento di tornare a casa.
Nel mentre mi tolgo il cappello per i locals della Sardegna che imparano e surfano in condizioni certamente piu' difficili di tanti altri. Respect!
