2023 started with a good swell that I missed while traveling elsewhere. Then the ocean provided weak waves up until this mid Feb, when cyclone Gabrielle delivered powerful conditions.
I booked, unknowingly, a couple of nights in Noosa, and I found myself in the best and safest spot for the occasion. With a 1000 more surfers!
Off course catching waves has been quite difficult most of the time spent there, but there has been an interesting development for me, nevertheless.
In fact I tried a very lively single fin on my noserider, instead of the classic hatchet fin that I have on that board. Oh boy, the board's behavior and feeling changed completely!
I would dare to say that fins have more influence on the board's behavior than the shape of the board itself!
Ice on the cake, on the last day, a small wave day, I managed to get plenty of practice and I really felt progressing, and joy.
I wish I could watch myself but it's not possible. I'll try to get filmed in the coming months. I think I need to see where am I at.
Il 2023 e' iniziato che mi son perso delle belle onde mentre ero in trasferta e poi e' stato un po' sul moscio tutto il tempo.
Tranne 2 settimane fa in cui il ciclone Grabrielle ha spedito vagonate di onde incazzose sulla costa. Ed io avevo gia' prenotato -per caso- un lungo weekend a Noosa, il posto migliore -e sicuro- per surfare queste mareggiate.
Ovviamente il luogo e' stato preso d'assalto da tutto il popolo surfista ed io mi son ritrovato in mezzo ad una folla enorme di gente tra l'altro bravissima.
Ma, a parte la difficolta' di prendere un'onda tutta per me, c'e' stato uno sviluppo interessante.
Ho infatti provato a mettere la pinnona che mi piace tanto, agile e arzilla, sul tavolone da nose riding che mi son portato dietro per l'occasione, sostituendo l'altra pinnona di solito consigliata appunto per il nose riding, che blocca/stabilizza e rallenta la tavola.
Non sapevo cosa aspettarmi, ma ho appena scoperto che la differenza di comportamento cosi' marcata tra le due tavole era dovuta per molta parte alla pinna!
Il tavolone e' diventato vivo e mi sono divertito molto piu' di prima.
La differenza e' tale che mi sembra di poter dire che la pinna influisce la dinamica piu' che la tavola stessa. Un punto su cui ragionare ulteriormente.
In ogni caso a Noosa ho poi trovato il mio momento felice e mi son divertito parecchio.
Vorrei potermi rivedere perche' credo che nelle giuste condizioni possa sfornare qualcosa di carino.
Vediamo se nei prossimi mesi riusciro' ad essere immortalato...
