What a day!

Super happy!

Yesterday I managed to have a weekday surf after a long time and I couldn’t have chosen a better day. I went to Tea Tree in Noosa where 2/3 feet waves were rolling nicely in the bay, with the occasional odd 5ft set.

There were locals in a reasonable number and a relaxed vibe all the time.

I managed to get my share of nice rides and even a few of the biggish ones. Man! So stoked. I always say: if you let me get a nice wave I will ride it very decently!

God, I’m still thinking about two cut backs that I managed to do.. it was the first time I pushed my boundaries that much, leaning and all.. fantastic!

I even surfed left. I think I was the only one doing it. Near the end some waves were bigger to your left and kept going like that to the inside corner of the bay, over the rocks. I went there 4 or 5 times and nobody followed me.

I think surfing the right points backhand give me an advantage over the others at same level. It seems I have a better view of the wave and my cut back is a forehand turn, and kind of easier. So many times I surf both ways while I see many regulars trying to go right even when there’s nowhere to go. This makes me proud.

I’m so happy. I’m still learning and improving. Little by little. But that’s surfing right?

Sto ancora godendo!

Ieri sono riuscito a surfare durante un giorno lavorativo ed era pure un giorno buono. Beh, le cose non hanno coinciso per caso..

Sono andato a Tea Tree, Noosa, dove c’erano onde sui 2/3ft che rollavano quasi perfette nella baia, con sporadici set da 5ft. C’erano un po’ di locals ma niente di ingestibile e l’atmosfera era rilassata.

Ho avuto modo di serfare con costanza e pure di prenderne qualcuna delle piu’ grandi! Mio Dio che goduria! Lo dico sempre: se mi lasciate prendere onde buone, vi ripaghero’ con una dignitosissima surfata! Che figata!

Ieri ci ho buttato dentro alcuni cut backs che io stesso ancora non ci credo. Ho trimmato bellamente, fatto cut baks, surfato faccia e piedi in avanti, sia destra  che sinistra verso l’angolo interno della baia, sulle rocce. Ma che figata!

Troppo contento. E poi il fatto di andare facilmente in entrambe le direzioni mi rende molto orgoglioso. Il mio handicap di serfare points destri di mancino, si e’ rivelato un aiuto in quanto ad avere una visione dell’onda intorno a me. Ed il cutback mi risulta frontale. Io mi comparo  agli altri del mio stesso livello, e devo dire che, senza falsa modestia, sono ad un buon punto. Spesso vedo destri, o regulars, tentare di andare a destra anche quando non e’ possibile mentre hanno l’onda sulla sinitra. Non li capisco. Ma peggio per loro ed per il mondo dei destri incalliti.

Intanto ieri ho fatto qualche altro passo Avanti. Piano piano progredisco. Ancora, sempre.
